EHang’s EH216-S Completes Inaugural Pilotless Human Flights in Indonesia

EH216-S - EHang

EHang, a global leader in urban air mobility (UAM), has announced a significant milestone: the EH216-S pilotless eVTOL has successfully completed its first passenger-carrying flights in Indonesia. The event, organized in collaboration with Prestige Aviation and authorized by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) of Indonesia, marks the debut of autonomous aerial passenger transport in the country.

The demonstration flights took place in Bali, showcasing the EH216-S’s ability to operate safely and efficiently without an onboard pilot. Distinguished guests, including government officials and aviation regulators, attended the event, underlining the importance of this achievement not only for EHang but also for the future of mobility in Indonesia.

The EH216-S is a fully electric, vertical takeoff and landing aircraft designed to navigate urban and regional environments. With its compact footprint and ability to operate from short or unpaved sites, it is particularly suited for Indonesia’s geography as an archipelago of thousands of islands. By removing the need for runways and pilots onboard, the aircraft offers a unique solution for connecting communities, reducing travel times, and improving accessibility.

EHang has already obtained type certification, production certification, and airworthiness approval from the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC), making the EH216-S the first pilotless passenger-carrying eVTOL to achieve such regulatory milestones. The successful debut in Indonesia strengthens EHang’s position as a global pioneer in sustainable air mobility and demonstrates the readiness of its technology for real-world applications.
